August 2026 LEGO Preview: The Biggest Payday Massacre in Years—Bookmark Before You Buy
This morning, while browsing Brick Fanatics’ monthly guide, I casually opened the LEGO.com backend to check the Insider pre-order page—and wow—the number of adult-oriented sets set for a simultaneous release on August 1 is roughly equal to the total from several months combined in the first half of the year. During my lunch break, I went through the screenshots on my desktop and took the opportunity to trim down my shopping cart. Rumors are just rumors—don’t take them at face value until they’re officially announced—but the sets listed below are pretty much confirmed to launch on August 1.
Here are my sources: the official LEGO.com calendar + a leak thread on Eurobricks + the August round-up from StoneWars/Brick Sleuth. Prices are listed for the US market; prices for the Chinese market may vary.
Star Wars: The Mandalorian Aftermath—This Four-Pack Release
75455 Boba Fett (Boba Fett Figure) – 1,544 pieces / $169.99 / 18+
Following 75346 Sandtrooper Rider, here’s another single-figure set—this time featuring the Beskar armor version. Judging by the box art, the color separation on the shoulder pads looks cleaner than the previous version, and the cape uses a new mold. My personal take: I’m more eager to get this than the Din Djarin helmet from last time, because longtime fans have been clamoring for detailed shoulder pads and jet packs for Boba Fett—and this set finally delivers on both. But with the $169.99 price tag, if I had to choose between this and 75454, I’d go for the AT-AT first.
75454 Imperial Remnant AT-AT with INT-4 – 1,453 pieces / $159.99 / Ages 10+
The wrecked AT-AT from the opening scene of *The Mandalorian*, complete with the INT-4 scout droid. The leg joints are slightly looser than those on set 75188, allowing for a half-kneeling pose. Among the seven minifigures, Kuyir finally gets a new print. Just a quick complaint: At 32 cm tall, it takes up a lot of shelf space, but a Star Wars display wall just wouldn’t be complete without an AT-AT.
75453 Offworld Sandcrawler and Mudhorn – 1,683 pieces / $199.99 / Ages 14+
The scene where the Jawas dismantle the Razor Crown, followed by the Mudhorn egg exchange. The tracked vehicle has plenty of hollow spaces, and it comes with 6 minifigures. With 1,683 pieces, the price is kept at $199.99—more reasonable than expected. The only concern is the number of stickers—judging by the leaked PDF, there aren’t many water-slide decals, which is great news for those with shaky hands.
75451 Hutt Palace Sentry Droid Showdown – 415 pieces / $49.99 / Ages 9+
A small set featuring a sentry droid showdown at the entrance to Jabba’s Palace (Mando + Grogu vs. Embo). Get this if you’re on a budget but still want to add to your Star Wars wall display.
My personal ranking: 75453 > 75455 > 75454 > 75451. If your budget allows, get the first three; if not, just stick with 75453.
One Piece: Released Simultaneously with Netflix Season 2—Choose Two from Six Sets
Officially announced for release on August 1: seven sets (75641–75647). The two sets in the middle are generating the most buzz in the AFOL community:
75646 Garp’s Marine Battleship – 1,705 pieces / $169.99
This is currently the largest set in the series, with a hull length of 44 cm. The Garp minifigure features new printing, and the battleship’s masts are movable. The downsides are that it takes up a lot of shelf space, and the One Piece IP in the adult market is the kind of series where you either “go all in or sit it out.”
75643 Tony Tony Chopper – 577 pieces / $69.99 / 9+
Although rated 9+, the design is actually more display-oriented, and the blue nose color-separated piece is the most appealing item in this wave. If you don’t want to build a large ship, Chopper is the perfect size to place next to your monitor.
As for the other sets (75641 Shiruru’s Hideout / 75642 Smoker’s Duel / 75644 East Libloque / 75645 Magnet Drum Castle / 75647 Rubber Fruit), decide based on your own progress with the series. Since I don’t follow the live-action show, I won’t offer any random opinions.
Pokémon 18+ Series: Arcanine and Munchlax Are Finally Here
72160 Arcanine – 1,190 pieces / $99.99 / 18+
The fiery mane is made with deep red and orange gradient pieces, and the figure is depicted standing on all four legs. With 1,190 pieces, this set is quite generous for the 18+ line—an increase from the previously rumored 900 pieces.
72150 Munchlax – 757 pieces / $69.99
Sitting and hugging a rice ball—simple yet heartwarming. If you’re on a budget and want to dip your toes into the Pokémon line, start here.
Rayquaza (72168, 1,083 pieces / $119.99) also has an 8/1 rating, but it’s designed more for a flying pose—so hold off if your display cabinet isn’t deep enough.
Icons: Two Cars, One Mirror—The Jaguar E-Type and the Hubble Telescope
11381 Jaguar E-Type – 1,673 pieces / $139.99
Following the 10315 Chevrolet, here’s another British sports car—the front grille pieces are more detailed than expected. A must-have for AFOLs who collect car sets; it pairs perfectly with the Speed Champions 77263 BMW M3 E30 for a side-by-side comparison of old and new.
11382 Hubble Space Telescope – 1,252 pieces / $139.99
A NASA collaboration set. The solar panels can be folded and unfolded, and the base stand is more refined than the one in the 10231 Space Shuttle set. With its Midnight Blue color scheme and silver foil pieces, it’s better suited for a study than a child’s room.
Super Mario: DK Arcade Is the Hidden MVP of This Wave
72051 Donkey Kong Arcade – 1,367 pieces / $199.99 / 18+
Global release on August 1; 29,980 yen in Japan. The pull-rod drum, the new Jumpman red hat mold, and the Lady minifigure—retro arcade fans will be completely blown away. Unlike Star Wars, it doesn’t have a high IP barrier to entry; anyone who’s played the Famicom can relate. Personally, this is my top pick from this wave—I pre-ordered it before the Boba Fett statue.
Three Ideas in a Row: The X-Files Fully Released on August 4, E.T. and La Catrina on August 1
• 21369 The X-Files – Fully Released August 4 / $199.99: UFO hanging display + office filing cabinet, Mulder and Scully minifigures. A must-have for longtime sci-fi fans.
• 21370 《E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial》– August 1 / $139.99: Sunflower planter + glowing finger; packed with nostalgia, but the set isn’t exactly a showstopper.
• 21372 La Catrina – August 1 / $139.99: Day of the Dead-inspired set with bold colors; looks great displayed alongside the 10273 Vintage TV.
Just jotting down a few small items
• 40872 Halloween Jack-o'-Lantern (323 pieces/$29.99, press-to-light bricks + glow-in-the-dark ghosts) — Seasonal decor; buying it in August means it’ll be ready for October.
• 40883 Skeleton Candles / 40873 Day of the Dead Lights — Three items from the same festive set, added to meet the minimum order.
• Technic 42239 Batmobile Tumbler (719 pieces/$189.99) and 42234 Dodge Viper GTS-R ($64.99) arrived on the same day—Mechanical Set fans, check them out for yourselves.

75453 Sandcrawler (To fill a gap in my Star Wars display)

72160 Arcanine (Starting my Pokémon collection)
I’ll hold off on the rest for now and wait for leaked images of the September Icons Enterprise Bridge (11385) and SpongeBob’s Bikini Bottom (11386) before deciding.
